There is a type of myocardial ischemia in which the heart vessels are not narrow
When it comes to chest tightness and chest pain caused by myocardial ischemia, the first thing that comes to mind may be coronary heart disease caused by severe stenosis of the heart vessels. In this case, a stent is often placed to open the narrowed blood vessels, so that blood flow can be smooth and the symptoms can be relieved.
There is another type of myocardial ischemia in which the patient's heart vessels are not obviously narrowed, but the symptoms of chest tightness and chest pain are not less. This is coronary slow blood flow.
In simple terms, coronary slow blood flow means that the coronary arteries of the heart are not blocked, but the blood flows very slowly in them, and the heart is not supplied with enough blood and oxygen, which makes people feel chest tightness and chest pain. At present, the cause of its occurrence has not been fully understood, and it may be related to poor endothelial function and inflammation in the body.
The team of Professor Luo Chufan of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University conducted a study, finding 45 patients with coronary slow blood flow and dividing them into two groups. One group only received conventional drug treatment, while the other group received 36 sessions of 1-hour EECP treatment in addition to drug treatment.
The results showed that the blood flow rate of the coronary arteries of patients who received EECP treatment was significantly accelerated after treatment, and the blood flow rate was still maintained well after a follow-up examination 6 months later.
At the same time, the inflammatory indicators in the patients' bodies decreased, the endothelial function of the blood vessels improved, and the chest pain symptoms were also alleviated a lot.
